Grok Bot expands 1Password sign-ins with user-approved access

The integration is rolling out across platforms. 1Password says it fills approved logins without exposing passwords or one-time codes to the Bot, with account and plan restrictions.

THE STORY IN THREE POINTS

  • Grok Bot and 1Password describe a rollout over the coming days across platforms.
  • Users approve specific logins; 1Password says passwords and one-time codes stay out of the Bot’s view.
  • Eligible accounts are Individual or Families plans on 1password.com; other account regions and business plans are excluded for now.

A broader rollout for delegated sign-ins

Grok Bot announced that users can approve logins from a 1Password account and let the Bot sign in for them. Its October 22 UTC post says the integration is reaching users over the following days. The matching 1Password product page describes a rollout across all platforms.

The announcement coincides with 1Password’s October 22 launch of its wider 1Password for Agents platform. Its press release identifies Grok Bot among the supported agent partnerships and describes a system that fills credentials into a sign-in form instead of sending them to the agent.

Using a login without revealing its secret

According to the product FAQ, connecting the integration does not open an entire vault. Grok Bot requests specific saved logins, and the user decides which to approve. 1Password says neither passwords nor one-time codes are shown to the Bot, so they do not need to be pasted into a chat.

The company also says users can disconnect access. Its explanation makes an important distinction: signing in still gives the agent access to information and actions inside the selected account. Protecting the credential does not remove the need to review which account the task requires.

Account eligibility is narrower than platform availability

1Password’s current FAQ includes Individual and Families accounts hosted on 1password.com. It excludes accounts on 1password.eu and 1password.ca, as well as Business and Team Starter Pack accounts. These restrictions qualify the broad platform-rollout statement; they should be checked before assuming an existing subscription is eligible.

Mac support predates this announcement

Grok Bot’s own changelog already listed 1Password support for Mac in its September 15 entry. That earlier version described connecting through the Marketplace and asking before a fill unless Auto fill was enabled. The October announcement should therefore be read as a broader integration rollout, rather than the first time Grok Bot has ever worked with 1Password.

The earlier Mac-specific controls are historical context, not proof that every newly supported platform has the same settings. The current partner page is the relevant reference for the account restrictions above.

Editorial context: credential protection and task authority differ

An agent can keep a password out of its conversation and still take a wrong action after signing in. Evaluating this integration therefore involves two questions: whether the credential stays protected, and whether the task uses the resulting account access correctly. The first does not settle the second.

A bounded trial could request a read-only result from a selected account and compare it with the original service. A broader workflow would need a clear account choice and a reviewable result. These are editorial suggestions; this report describes the companies’ claims and documentation, not an independent security audit.
